In June 2009 supercomputer Top500 list presented in ISC (International Supercomputing Conference) 2009, Our “TSUBAME Grid Cluster” won the first prize of Japanese university, that corresponds to 4th in Japan and 41st in the world. Its LINPACK benchmark score recorded 87.01 Tflops and overtook univ. Tokyo’s 82.98 Tflops.

We achieved a 10 Tflops improvement from the last November 2008 list. This improvement comes from detailed tunings for our GPU BLAS library conducted by Mr. Nukada, who is a GSIC researcher, and a sophisticated reimplementation of LINPACK done by Dr. Endo, who is an associate professor of Tokyo Tech’s Global COE program “Computationism as a Foundation for the Sciences."
